Roof repairs are unavoidable; the materials can deteriorate with time and with extreme weather but there are some things you can do to prevent costly maintenance expenses. I know that some of these take a lot of time and effort but you don’t need to do them everyday, not even every weekend! There are specific times when your roof is in need of a good clean up, not only will this save you money but it will keep the top end of your home, looking sharp an beautiful. So, why not try one of these 3 simple tips on your roof, I promise they will not take a lot of your time, nor will it take a huge toll on your back either.
- Regular inspections are very useful: It’s a good idea to hire a Roof Contractor to perform a thorough inspection of your roof, at least once a year, but you can also make sure that your roof is in no immediate need of a repair by looking for water leaks, broken tiles, rust or other signs. Should you detect any of them, call an expert and have them asses the situation.
- Keep those gutters clear: Yes, this can be a very annoying job but as I said earlier, you don’t need to do it every day. If you devote your self to clearing those gutters twice a year, once at the beginning of spring and a second time at the beginning of fall, you should be ok. Try to find any debris from the roof, leafs that may have accumulated or moss that may have grown over the most humid seasons. These will keep you gutters in top shape and it’ll keep your roof safe and sound.
- Clear any threats: This is not as dramatic as it sounds. I mean that, should there be any branches near your roof, try to keep them as trimmed as you can. This will prevent further damage to your gutters or even to the roof itself, especially during storm season, when the winds make those branches swing all over your house.
